Burgermeister terminates franchise agreement with Potsdamer Platz location

Berlin, 06.01.2025 – After four years of cooperation, Burgermeister has terminated the franchise agreement with the franchisee of the Potsdamer Platz location. The decision was made to protect the values of the brand and the trust of our guests. Burgermeister stands for the tastiest burgers at fair prices in Berlin – a promise that we are keeping even in challenging times.

For years, Burgermeister has endeavored to support the franchisee at Potsdamer Platz and find solutions together. Despite a record year for all other franchisees in 2022/ 2023 / 2024, the location repeatedly implemented unauthorized price increases, including the unfounded claim that it was not economically viable. This development was exacerbated by shorter opening hours, inefficient operational planning and other irregularities.

At the end of December 2024, the franchisee raised prices again without authorization, in clear violation of the agreed standards. These actions undermine Burgermeister’s core values of quality, fairness and affordability, which is why the franchise relationship was terminated.

Meanwhile, all other franchisees and Burgermeister locations can look back on a record year in 2024. Despite price explosions and the ongoing challenge of rising costs, Burgermeister has lowered prices for various burgers at numerous locations in Berlin and Leipzig. This underlines our commitment to ensuring that our guests can continue to afford a Burgermeister burger for under 5 euros, even in difficult times.
