For months, “Coming Soon” has been on the taped-up shop windows opposite the UCI cinema in Potsdam’s Bahnhofspassagen. The opening of the Burgermeister fast food restaurant is eagerly awaited by fans of burgers and fries. Now the date has been set.

Managing Director Cebrail Karabelli announces the opening of the first branch outside Berlin.

The Burgermeister is on an expansion course. The twelfth store opens in Potsdam. “We have 17 leases in the pipeline,” says Karabelli. Restaurants are planned in Hanover, Leipzig, Dresden, Stuttgart and Raunschweig. Cologne, Düsseldorf and Nuremberg are also on Burgermeister’s “Coming soon” list. In the coming year, Burgermeister wants to expand into Switzerland. There are also talks for stores in the UK and Dubai. By the end of 2025, 35 new restaurants are to be added across Europe.

In the station passages, 40 employees will prepare burgers and fries. The restaurant has 40 seats on 85 square meters: typically furnished like the other branches, with wooden benches reminiscent of old S-Bahn cars and art on the walls. Burgermeister now makes about 40 percent of its turnover with delivery services, says Managing Director Karabelli. The location at the main station is favorable to be able to supply the city on a large scale.

Potsdam’s new burger shop will open on Thursday, August 29, at 11 a.m. There are then 2-for-1 offers for delivery services. From then on, it will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Co-managing director Robert Fuegert says: “We are pleased and very excited to see how we will be received in Potsdam.”
